DiscountedVA Mental Health - What You're Entitled To
Combat veterans who served after November 11, 1998 can receive FREE VA mental health care for 5 years after separation - regardless of disability status, regardless of whether your condition is service-connected, and regardless of income. You do not need a referral. Call your nearest VA medical center and ask for the mental health clinic directly.
Many VA facilities have same-day mental health services. Call your local VA and ask specifically about same-day or walk-in mental health appointments - don't ask for a general appointment through the standard scheduling line.
VA Video Connect allows video appointments with VA mental health providers from home. Often shorter wait times than in-person. Request telehealth specifically when scheduling.
